A Movement by Moments: Christina Economos at TEDxSomerville

What happens when a dozen concerned doctors diagnose you with a serious condition, via email, after seeing you on national television? If you're Christina Economos, one of America's leading health activists, you act first - and then thank the universe for the concern and kindness of strangers. As Director of ChildObesity180 and the New Balance Chair in Childhood Nutrition at Tufts University, her work has inspired everyone from Michelle Obama to a third grade teacher in Compton to help kids eat and live healthier. And some of her most groundbreaking work started right in her own backyard, where Shape Up Somerville has become a national model for curbing obesity.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
