Zoning: George Proakis at TEDxSomerville

Education and zoning both have detailed zoning regulations. What happens when they need to occur in the same business? As the Director of Planning City of Somerville's, one of the most densely populated cities in the U.S., you'll never hear a more well-informed, funny, or passionate explanation of zoning than you will from George Proakis. George is in charge of coordinating the development of the new Somerville by Design neighborhood planning process that has created significant community participation in planning for Gilman Square, Magoun Square, Ball Square, Davis Square and East Somerville. George discusses how his team is working on zoning to not only conserve Somerville's neighborhoods, but promote vibrancy.
