A People's art is the genesis of their freedom: Atillah Springer at TEDxPortofSpain

In this stirring talk, Attillah takes us through the various definitions and origins of Jouvay, by re-examining some of the Caribbean's revolutionaries. She explores and shares the experiences of transformation, beauty, and celebration, linking these formative experiences to battles of freedom that have taken place on our very own soil. This story about "love, hope, death and ideology" highlights the importance of the freedom we have fought for, both physical and artistic, and invites the listener to remember the importance of Trinidad Carnival's "living canvas" known as Jouvay.
