This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Dileep Rao shares an interesting perspective on the nature and value of movies. He discusses why movies have been held in such high regard in society, touches upon the sense of community that is fostered by movie watching, and illustrates to us just why movies still matter in today's modern world.
Dileep Rao is an American actor who has appeared in feature films and television series. His film credits include Drag Me to Hell, Avatar and Inception. He's also performed in stage productions of Indian Ink, Fetes de la Nuit, and Making It; and on several television shows--including (although not performing in) Jeopardy! He holds a BA in politics from UCSD and an MFA from the American Conservatory Theater. He lives in Santa Monica, and plans to direct his first film in the near future.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
