How we can grow furniture: Gavin Munro at TEDxDerby

Gavin is true hippy at heart with the environment always at the forefront of his working life. From a furniture design student, Gavin spent a period of time at a design agency in London. After a spell hating his day-to-day life, he rebelled against the business suits and travelled to California to build straw bale and eco-houses before taking on gardening for several years. Having always had a passion for combining geometry and nature, Gavin found his inspiration for Full Grown in driftwood while wandering a beach in California. After ending up back in England accidentally, his friends encouraged him to take his passion one step further and today, he can be found in his field of growing furniture.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
