Increasing Organ Transplants: Stu Grubb at TEDxCarletonCollege

Stu Grubb graduated from Carleton College in 1985. He suffered kidney failure and received a kidney transplant in 2010. The kidney donor was his freshman roommate from college. Others from the Carleton Class of 1985 helped pay for costs associated with the surgery. Stu is an advocate for changing the system of organ donation in the U.S. so that more organs are available for transplant. When not doing that he works as a hydrogeologist and environmental consultant in Stillwater, Minnesota.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
