Sri Lanka as I See it: Hiyanthi Peiris '15 at TEDxCarletonCollege

Hiyanthi is a 20 year old student of Carleton College Minnesota USA, in her Junior year. She lived in Colombo, Sri Lanka all her life prior to attending Carleton. She is an International Relations and Psychology major who has always been interested in media, diplomacy and international affairs. She had her Primary and Secondary education at Bishops College, Colombo, where she was the Head Prefect. She won the World Prize for Economics and Accounting at the EDEXEL London A/Level 2011 Examination. She was a member of her school English debate team, a Model UN participant both in school and college, and also won several awards for her writing skills at both national and international level. She has a Diploma in Speech and Drama from the Trinity Guildhall, London.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
