Butku is located at North Atlantic coast of Nicaragua. The region was devastated by the hurricane Félix when it touched the North Atlantic coast on Sept 2007. Fauna, flora and large forest areas of pines were affected. La Esperanza's Cooperative, is an organized indigenous women group for elaborating educational toys from the wood fallen by the hurricane Félix.

They started the construction of a woodshop to exploit the timer fallen. These indigenous women group is a respectable cooperative by the community. The project management of agriculture and handicraft production is their main activity. This has been able to integrate more people and particularly women, which legitimize and empower the organization. Women of the cooperative also got to enhance their organization skills through traninings in business plan development and management. They make children study tables, cars with geometrical figures. They are a valuable example how to survive and start again after a mental cataqstrophe. They participate very often in local fair to promote their products. they are also giving local employment to their community. They initiative also aims to reforest the area, the conservation of the pine forest.
Execution of this project is a positive answer for community because it helps to heal mental health through occupational therapy with the elaborations of toys.
