This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. What will the farm of the future look like? In this emotional talk, Jeff Olson helps us understand the conflict, struggle and unintended consequences we confront in our health, economy, and food systems today. Could vertical gardening in greenhouses emerge as a triple bottom line solution to these challenges?

Jeff Olson is an accidental urban agriculture activist. Like many, he grew up surrounded by agriculture and ran away from it. Some 30 years later, when his business mentor and corporate partner bought a patented way to grow food, Jeff saw an opportunity to leverage design, grow beautiful food, make growing it cool, and scale it. After successful careers in professional athletics, money management and technology, he and his wife founded Well Nourished Worldwide in 2000 to deliver a new standard in health food and its business.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
