This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Michael Gants' mother saved his life. As a child, he suffered from a chronic illness that nearly derailed his bright future. While doctors worked to diagnose and effectively treat Michael's rare postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, his mother used her expertise as a lawyer to advocate for Michael and ensure he'd have a recognizable and rewarding lifestyle to return to as he regained his health. Realizing his fortunate--and sadly atypical--circumstances, Michael's own experience motivated him to create a tool for others to find the champions they desperately need.

Michael Gants, is a Harvard student and has recently launched JustiServe, an online marketplace for people to find lawyers they can afford.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
