What happens when you lean-in and fall right over? Author and mother Katrina Alcorn was juggling a fast-paced dream job and motherhood until the day she just stopped, slowly but surely, like a watch without a battery. She had maxed out. Sharing with us the journey back and the lessons she has learned along the way, Katrina urges us to shift the focus from women to society as a whole and lean in to parenting together.

Katrina is a writer and expert on why women burn out at work. Her first book, MAXED OUT: American Moms on the Brink, is a brave memoir about her own experience burning out as a working mom. She is also a consultant who has spent more than a decade leading strategic design projects with Fortune 500 companies in many industries including financial services, health care, and high-tech.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
