My Life as a Climbing Sherpa: Sonam Bhote at TEDxEverest

Climbing Sherpa Sonam Bhote was born in a small hamlet called 'Sandakphu' Nepal. On 15th of May 2006, Bhote not only scaled the top of the Mt. Everest for the first time in his life but he also launched the English Poetry Book titled, "Bards' Sketches". The main intention behind launching a book on top of the World was to prove to the world that, Sherpas and Tibetans who are basically regarded as Mountaineer and High Altitude Porter that, besides climbing they also possess caliber in literature. Further, they want to arouse the awareness among Sherpas and Tibetans about the poetry.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
