Christopher Schrader is a 21 year old Dutch/Hong Kong endurance athlete, social entrepreneur and charity activist. He completed a 600 km hike across the base of England at age 16 and in 2010, co-founded the Walking With a Purpose Foundation. Later that year, he completed the Hong Kong Challenge - a 150 km run, swim and row across Hong Kong in 24 hours and then founded the Youth Endurance Network and Running to Stop the Traffik in HK. In 2011, he crossed the Gobi Desert on foot, supported by camel, winning a world record in the process. That same year he returned to the remote west of Mongolia and spent winter living the harsh nomadic life with the reclusive Kazakh Nomads of the Altai Mountains. He then cycled 6300 km in under 31 days in Canada, raising funds and awareness for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Christopher studies at Harvard University and to date, he has helped raise over USD 300,000 for various charities. At TEDxHKUST 2014, he will be taking about the act of philanthropy through endurance.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
