This year, the program of the film section of Art Cologne, Film Cologne, is entitled Flanders Moving Image and focuses on film and video works by artists who live and work in Flanders and Brussels. It is organized by Art Cologne in cooperation with the Flanders Arts Institute, Flanders Image, and Argos, centre for art and media, and curated by Prof. Philippe Pirotte, rector of the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main, and Fabian Schöneich.
In this preview to the Film Cologne section at Art Cologne 2015, the director of Art Cologne, Daniel Hug, talks with Dirk de Wit and Fabian Schöneich about the concept of the section, and the participating artists and institutions. Dirk de Wit is Coordinator of International Relations and Visual Arts at Flanders Arts Institute in Brussels, Belgium. Fabian Schöneich is curator at the Portikus in Frankfurt/Main.
The 2015 program of Film Cologne attempts to provide focused insight into the artistic production of Belgium, without emphasising a specific scene or generation. Among the films and videos that will be shown in Film Cologne's newly designed theatre and lounge area of hall 11.3 of Koelnmesse are works by Dora García, Meggy Rustamova, Johan Grimonprez, Sirah Foighel Brutman & Eitan Efrat, and Harald Thys & Jos de Gruyter.
Also part of Film Cologne 2015 and Flanders Moving Image is a screening of Nicolas Provost's film The Invader (2011) at Filmhauskino Cologne (Maybachstr. 111, 50670 Cologne) on 18 April, 6 pm. There's also a talk with curators and artists of the Film Cologne 2015 program on 16 April, 6 pm in the Art Cologne Talks Lounge (Hall 11.3).
