Märta Jansdotter stems from a long line of farmers. And after centuries of small scale, organic farming, the 1950's saw the introduction of synthetic, chemical fertilizers and pesticides. By now, the chemical madness we are conducting globally is turning 120 million hectares of fertile soil into desert. Every year. But there is still hope. One reason for enthusiasm is the beautiful ancient technology called ruminants. Märta Jansdotter explains how.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
