This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Dr. Eve Edelstein talks about the importance of design for our health and happiness.
Dr. Eve Edelstein, Associate Professor, College of Architecture, Planning & Landscape Architecture (CAPLA) & Institute of Place and WellBeing, integrates her degrees in Neuroscience, Architecture and Anthropology to explore the neuroscience of design. She seeks to improve the impact of design on all peoples; to reduce error and improve human outcomes in healthcare settings and all built places. Dr. Edelstein uses immersive virtual reality CAVE technologies, synchronized with wearable environmental sensors, visual attention trackers and brain wave recordings to reveal the impact of design on performance, preference and creativity. Edelstein currently teaches multidisciplinary courses in NeuroArchitecture, and Universal Design principles in design studios at CAPLA for the Berkeley Prize Fellowship.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
