In her TEDxUCD 2014 performance, Cindy Cummings, an internationally acclaimed and award-winning dance artist, shares an interpretive dance which crosses boundaries between dance, theatre and live art.
In her TEDxUCD 2014 performance and talk, entitled 'The Intelligence of the Body' she explores the idea that we listen with our whole bodies and creativity flows and evolves in different ways and patterns. She outlines how she encourages play and improvisation as a method of curiosity and exploration and believes that the body stores everything that has been experienced since birth and she explains how dance and music do not necessarily need to be bound together.
Cindy Cummings is an internationally acclaimed award-winning dance artist and is one of 3 University College Dublin (UCD) Science: 2014 Artists in Residence. She is also co-director of Fumbally Court Studio.
Cindy has evolved a multi-layered practice which regularly crosses boundaries between dance, theatre and live art and is one of the first dance artists in Ireland to become a member of Aosdána, which was established in 1981 to honour artists whose work has made an outstanding contribution to the arts in Ireland.
She has presented her own work worldwide, has choreographed widely for theatre, film and TV, and has performed as an actor/dancer with many theatre and dance companies.
Currently she is collaborating with MIDASpaces on a new interactive dance/technology show to premiere in Hong Kong, July 2014.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
