Thousands of Hindu worshippers climbed an active Indonesian volcano, Mount Bromo, to throw livestock and toss other ritual offerings into its crater as part of a centuries-old religious ceremony called the Yadnya Kasada.

Some villagers who do not belong to the tribe use their nets to intercept offerings thrown into the abyss and avoid them going to waste.
