A self-proclaimed 'pragmatic muser' working to save the world through creative persuasion, Ali Jacs honed her craft through poetry slam competitions and performances in schools, bars, museums, and festivals as far away as Canada and the USA. After winning last year's NZ National Poetry Slam, she went on to feature as a guest at the Australian National Poetry Slam and recently self-published her first chapbook Romantic Pragmatism.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
