You throw like a girl! Telling stories about women in sport - Jos Dirkx at TEDxCapeTownWomen

Jos Dirkx was born in Rio de Janeiro and has since been traveling the world with her parents and brother. She has lived in Brazil, Bangladesh, Spain, Senegal, The Netherlands, Canada, Austria, Norway, South Africa, Sudan, Eritrea and the United Arab Emirates. In South Africa, she founded the award-winning Girls & Football SA in April 2012, while completing a Master's Degree in Global Political Economy and Conflict Resolution. She is a Women Deliver and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation 2013 Young Leader, has spoken at events for the United Nations, and is a Sonke Gender Activist.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
