Karen Correia is a student of Elementary Education, from the institution Escola Superior de Educação de Lisboa, EP Manager in AIESEC, organizing committee staff's member of the National President's Meeting of AIESEC, organized by her local committee and, last but no least, vice president of the forum Youth to Business in logistics.

From very early age, she has been passionate about social entrepreneurship, about volunteering work and Education, having given lessons and worked in several volunteering programs, both as a volunteer and as a leader.

Throughout her life, she has been inspired by people from completely different backgrounds, nationalities and ideologies and, it was on this heterogeneity that she found her true place. On that thought, she decided to study International Education under the Erasmus programme, in The Netherlands.

Her experience was so rich, that it became impossible to describe as anything less than a "life-changing experience". While in the Netherlands, in the course of an internship and visits to several schools, she realized that the country's schools were extremely well technologically equipped, so she decided to conduct a research on that topic. She focused on the results of the use of technology on the classroom, from the point of view of the students, the teachers and the students of Education.

This research led to conclusions about the European general panorama of familliarization with these technological tools but, most of all, their potential. She went on implementing new practices on her internship, testing the applicability of her theories, without neglecting the importance of creativity and the arts, which up to that point, had always been the pillars for what she considers an "ideal education".

Since she returned to Portugal, she has made it her mission to share this experience and knowledge, since she believes that the best way to have a significant social impact on the present and future, is through education.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
