Like all Israeli youth, Atalya was expected to become a soldier. Unlike most, she questioned the practices of her country’s military, and was determined to challenge this rite of passage. She refused to do military duty and was imprisoned.

Everyone in Atalya’s family did military service when they were young. They’re critical of her decision to fight lawmakers, and of her refusal to serve. But her courage moves others around her to question their own political positions, and to discover their power to effect change. This documentary follows Atalya through her protests and her time in military prison, offering a unique window into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from the perspective of an idealistic young woman.
