Dr. Adrienne Cachelin is an Assistant Professor of Environmental and Sustainability Studies at the University of Utah. She is passionate about cultivating citizens who think critically and are compelled to shape the larger community. Adrienne seeks to expose connections between justice and sustainability so students understand both their ecological and socially-constructed positions. Her commitment to these ideals is illustrated in the community engaged learning courses she teaches including Eating for Justice, Health, and Sustainability and Environmental Justice. One theme in both of these courses is engaging students in the skills, concepts, and community orientations needed to critically consider their role in the global agro-industrial food chain. The University's Office of Equity and Diversity recently recognized Dr.Cachelin as an advocate for social justice both on campus and in the broader community.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
