How music has created a community of potential: Fiona McKenzie at TEDxUWS

After 16 years as Principal Teacher of Music at Grange Academy, Kilmarnock, Fiona left teaching in 2006 to set up Centrestage Music Theatre CIC, a social enterprise which incorporates the charity Centrestage Communities Ltd.
Centrestage Communities delivers programmes in community engagement through the arts with a particular emphasis on leadership development in young people, using music, dance and drama as tools to foster confidence, teamwork, pride and aspiration in even the most hard to reach groups.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
