The Korean American artist Nam June Paik (1932-2006) is one of the pioneers of video art. In the early 1960s, Nam June Paik was inspired by two Japanese technicians to manipulate the image of TV sets for his art. This led to the so called Abe-Paik video synthesizer, an instrument he used to create his future video work. At Art Stage Singapore 2014, the Singapore-based gallery Space Cottonseed's booth featured four works by Nam June Paik from the 1990s: Neon TV-Dish=Antenna (1990); Neon TV-Heaven and Earth (1990); Tolstoy (1995); and Wire Haired Man (1995). In this video, we have closer look at the works.
