This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Connecting a Nation, Coast to Coast to Coast

Classically-trained flutist and multi-instrumental looping artist Rozalind MacPhail blends organic instrumentation and electronics through the aid of Ableton Live and her laptop. A native of Toronto Island, MacPhail has composed at the Banff Centre, toured solo across Canada and has made guest flutist appearances with celebrated music artists: Yo La Tengo, Great Lake Swimmers, Constantines, Elliott Brood, Lou Barlow and more. Her collaborative film/music project, Head First was recently premiered at the Banff Centre and was co-presented by the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival upon her return.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
