Shakespeare, sex education, and a lighthouse | Marya Abdul Rahman | TEDxNDULouaize

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. After earning a BA in English Literature, Marya Abdul Rahman decides that her passion for books will remain close at heart as she pursues a new career in social development with a focus on youth peer education, advocating for sex education and awareness on HIV/AIDS in a country where both are considered a taboo. Seeking the inner light within herself, Marya breaks career boundaries and gives her audience a shiny piece of advice as well.

Originally from Lebanon, Marya Abdul Rahman has over 7 years of experience in development with the United Nations system and international NGOs with a focus on sexual and reproductive health and peer education. She holds a BA in English literature and a Masters in Public Health. Marya joined Heartland Alliance International as a Program Manager in July 2013 and is now Country Director in Lebanon.
