Ed Fennell is the grandfather and primary caregiver of two special needs girls. Haley is six and has a rare genetic disorder called CDKL5, and, in all likelihood will never walk or talk. Emily is 2 and lost all but 10cm+- of her small intestines and a portion of her large intestines at 2 days old. In Ed's TEDx Albany talk he shares the story of rare disorder patients in a powerful speech entitled, "The Lives of Zebra's."

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
