About the Speaker:
Oscar Venhuis graduated with a product design degree and completed a postgraduate degree in Design Management. The latter was a comparative study into the similarities and differences of Design Thinking between British and Hong Kong creatives. Born in Seoul, raised in the Netherlands, studied and worked in London, Shenzhen, Beijing and is currently living in Hong Kong. After 15 years his working career came full circle when he started his new business. Surfing was instrumental in his first job at O'Neill and in his latest online venture weblaa. In 2011, Oscar co-founded weblaa which combines IT and Digital Marketing and offers online solutions for startups and medium size businesses. As managing director he fostered creative thinking and supervised international design and advertising teams for brands such as Nike, Adidas, Philips, Tag Heuer, Estee Lauder, and Four Season hotel. In addition to running his tech startup, Oscar is a photographer and private collector of North Korean (DPRK) art.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
