What if the Horse Knows the Way?: Cecil Bothwell at TEDxHickory

Bucky Fuller observed, "... society operates on the theory that specialization is the key to success, not realizing that specialization precludes comprehensive thinking." He also noted that dinosaurs were specialists with fairly grave consequences. Cecil Bothwell took that notion to heart as a builder, a writer, an editor and publisher, an alternative energy advocate, an organic gardener, a painter, a mechanic and a politician. He has initiated a Zero Energy District project in Asheville, installed solar panels on his roof to make his own home net-zero, and his other car is a canoe. He currently serves in his second term on Asheville's City Council.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
