You’ll need

For the meatballs

500 g minced beef
¼ cup breadcrumbs
Cumin
Black pepper
Thyme
Dried mint
Red pepper flakes
Salt
1 onion
Vegetable oil (to fry)

For the sauce

3 tomatoes
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp tomato paste
3 cloves of garlic
Thyme
Salt

For the top

Grated mozzarella

Here's how

1- Mix together 500 g of minced beef, ¼ cup of breadcrumbs, cumin, black pepper, thyme, dried mint, red pepper flakes, salt and finally, 1 grated onion. And using your hands, mix all ingredients until well incorporated.
2- Cover the mixture with cling film and place in refrigerator for half an hour.
3- Take walnut sized pieces from the mixture and shape them into balls.
4- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet and fry the meatballs. Keep turning with tongs until they are completely and evenly browned.
5- Evenly divide the meatballs among little clay pots.
6- For the sauce, combine peeled and diced 3 tomatoes, 1 tbsp of butter and 2 tbsp of leftover frying oil and cook for a few minutes.
7- When it starts to boil, add 1 tbsp of tomato paste, 3 cloves of garlic, thyme and salt. Stir and cook until the tomatoes are soft.
8- Spoon the sauce over the meatballs evenly.
9- Bake in an oven preheated at 250°C degrees for about 20 minutes.
10- Top with grated mozzarella and continue to bake until the cheese is melted and lightly browned.
11- Clay pot meatballs are ready to serve. Enjoy!
