Education isn't a game - but maybe it should be: Jim Flatmo at TEDxEastsidePrep

Jim is the creative director for a small independent game company and the video game design teacher at Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center. His mission is to bring the education and game industries to a point where they are working together and he dreams of a world where students are as engaged and excited about getting an Achievement Unlocked in school as they are about their cell phones. In his spare time he enjoys cooking, costume design and tries to maybe even get in a bit of gaming.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
