Jim Lane teaches biology, environmental science, and biomimicry and modeling at Mahtomedi High School. Jim recently moved to Mahtomedi with his wife and daughter. He received his bachelor of science degree in biology from the University of Minnesota in 2008 and a master's degree in teaching from Hamline University in 2012. He is a senior fellow of the Knowles Science Teaching Foundation and received the Outstanding New Biology Teacher of the Year award in 2011 from the National Association of Biology Teachers. He served six years in the U.S. Navy as an engineering laboratory technician, where he monitored reactor plant chemistry and radiological controls on a nuclear reactor. He has shared his passion for teaching, science, and outdoor education in presentations at the local and national level.
