This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. The story of a life with a daughter with cerebral palsy is always incredible, and Kim Anderson is no different. Kim and her family are truly inspiration as they approach life with an all-encompassing positive attitude, summing up how their families outlook on life; it isn't about problems, but rather solutions. As a pillar of strength, Kim warms the heart and reminds us of life's endeavors.

Kim Anderson has extensive experience in international education. Kim lives in Hong Kong with her husband and two teenage girls. Her youngest, due to major complications at birth, is significantly compromised. Whilst her daughter's physical capacities are dramatically limited, her cognitive abilities function well.
Kim's philosophy of "can do and move forward" has brought her on a challenging and inspiring journey as she navigates through unchartered waters to ensure her daughter's complex needs are met. Through this process, she has acquired considerable knowledge and expertise within the field of alternative learning and communication. Kim is well versed in a variety of assistive communication platforms, emerging technologies, eye gaze control and the latest software applications.
Inspired to share lessons learned from the front line, Kim has set up support groups for parents of children with special needs in Hong Kong and has forged networks with families and practitioners across the world.
