The new way we used to be: Michel Visser at TEDxAUCollege

Michel Visser is an actor, social entrepreneur, sharing economy enthusiast and the founder of Konnektid. His company offers peer-to-peer learning by enabling people to find skills nearby. Michel believes we are all part of a revolution. It is happening right before our eyes: a bottom up driven change of our economy. Technology, startups and new business models create the framework that enables us to live more local, social, transparent and inexpensive lives. This is not because we are told to do so, but because we want to do so. In a more distributed society, we as individuals become more and more level with large institutions, and by working together we will inevitably take the lead. The new economy is helping people find value that was previously inaccessible. Thanks to the Internet and ever-improving mobile technology, we now have the individual ability and incentive to make assets and skills available to everyone.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
