Storytelling is extremely important to ending gender based violence and discrimination. We all have stories, myself included. Many years ago, I was invited me to a dinner hosted in honor of a visitor. Since it was a weekend night, I told the official delegation that they should join my friends and I after the event, for some sightseeing. One of them mistook my friendly invitation for something more and made persistent physical advances during the reception; it was a terrifying and discouraging experience. I wish I had made an official complaint, but at age 26, I was scared. I’m glad we’re finally talking about this.
