The Missouri Department of Conservation wants to help you to discover nature and learn more about turkey research taking place in northeast Missouri.

Starting December 2013, Department of Conservation staff began a multi-year effort in northeast Missouri aimed at updating biologists understanding of turkey population dynamics.

We are going to be putting bands and transmitters on the turkeys so we can radio track them throughout the year, estimate seasonal and annual survival, as well as harvest rates in our spring and fall turkey hunting seasons.

Project results will be used to update the wild turkey management plan to help ensure Missouri remains a national leader.
Each year, the state's turkey harvest ranks among the highest in the country.
You can find turkeys in all of Missouri counties, offering both hunters and wildlife viewers opportunities to enjoy this big bird.
This year's spring turkey hunting season is April 21 thru May 11.
Youth turkey season is April 12 and 13.
