China’s new regional Belt and Road trade development strategy will assist the international thrust of the country’s burgeoning timepiece production industry, says Nick Gu, Co-founder of watch producer Eone Timepieces. Mr Gu speaks beside the HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair 2015, where he displays a watch designed for use by blind people, and says the Fair holds a unique, leading position in the watch industry. Meanwhile, Japan Clock & Watch Association General Manager Takashi Yamamoto predicts Japanese watchmakers will face fiercer competition from Chinese counterparts in the future.
