This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. What would happen if Facebook's Like Button took physical form? Matthew explores a variation of this idea by making Reusable Certificates of Excellence, small cards that can be passed among people in recognition of good deeds.

Matthew grew up in Spartanburg, SC, attended the Governor's School for Science and Mathematics in Hartsville, received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from USC, and works as an academic librarian at a small college in Columbia. His hobbies include cycling, hiking, and certificate making. He's looking forward to reading the next issue of Neil Gaiman's Sandman Overture.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
