Geoffrey is a philosophy instructor at Spokane Community College and an expert in the Socratic method. For the past decade Geoffrey has advocated the use of this method in higher education to encourage greater student engagement in the classroom. He has also conducted research into the effects of Socratic dialogue on learning and student success. Geoffrey's work aims to promote the ancient method as the most effective form of instruction in liberal arts education.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
