Town, Dreams, Future: Stefano de Angelis at TEDxLugano

Stefano grew up in a multi-cultural environment, both Latin and German which later influenced is approach to architecture. He is fascinated by the creative force of men and cultures and the rapid changes taking place in the world. Through his professional, military, political experiences in Switzerland and Italy, he learned that the basic rules for doing well in any business are always the same and that the most important aspect in the work of every man is consistency. He believes that the world can be changed only through the personal commitment of every person living on our planet.

What started as a mission to build one's dream home came to symbolize Stefano's concept of architecture for the future. Located in southern Switzerland, Stefano created a completely zero-energy, entirely self-sufficient building which he sees as the form for the future. As the human population urbanizes, we need to offset this growing energy demand by decrease the energy consumption of buildings in which we work and live.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
