Currently the president of Antioch College, Mark Roosevelt has spent a vast majority of his career as a public sector "change agent," advocating for changes in education that expand opportunity, rigor and new design models. Most recently, he served as superintendent of Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS), where he pursued an aggressive improvement agenda called "Excellence for All." Under his leadership, PPS won a $40 million grant to maximize teacher effectiveness, opened innovative new schools, adopted a more rigorous curriculum, and inaugurated a nationally recognized program to recruit, train and support school principals. Mark's talk will be about Abraham Lincoln. He will share his passion for Lincoln, which affects his way of thinking and living.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
