This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. How do we get developers to care about the energy consumed by their buildings? Bob Barret suggests that ESCOs and New Developer Math are the answer.
Mechanical engineer Bob Barrett has spent his career in the building systems industry. Barrett got his start as a design engineer focusing on power systems, and later transitioned into a career as a sales engineer focusing on the application and sales of equipment and controls. Barrett’s varied career gives him a deep understanding of the mechanical systems within buildings as well as the energy-saving measures that can reduce buildings’ energy footprint. Barrett also understands the construction cycle, including the pressures and incentives that drive each player in the process. Barrett has worked for two Fortune 500 companies, and currently works for a private firm.
