Simit is one of the best Turkish street food in Turkey. It has a ring shape and coated with roasted sesame seeds. It makes it crunchy on top and soft in the middle. It is easy to make at home. In Turkey we usually eat with Turkish tea and some feta cheese and olives. A great breakfast bread..
Ingredients for Simit:
For to starter dough:
1 cup lukewarm water
1 tbsp dry yeast
1 tbsp granulated sugar
1/4 cup olive oil
2 cups bread flour (or all purpose) - I used 1 cup of it a siyez wheat flour which is a ancient einkorn flour to make it more tasty and healthier )
After the first starter dough:
1 cup lukewarm water
4 cups bread flour (all purpose if you can't find)
2 tsp salt
For the coating
3/4 cup water
2 tbsp grape molasses
1 cup roasted sesame seeds
1 cup sunflower seeds
