This homemade pita bread recipe is so easy to make and requires a few ingredients you may already have on hand! ????
Mix up the very simple dough, let it rise, and enjoy perfectly puffy homemade pita bread in 6 minutes! ????
You'll need
1 cup warm milk (200 ml)
1 tbsp yogurt
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp instant yeast
1/2 tsp granulated sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 1/2 - 3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup = 200 ml
Here's how
In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, salt, and yogurt. Mix well.
Add some of the flour and instant yeast, and continue mixing.
Gradually add the remaining flour while continuing to mix until the dough starts to come together.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface for easier kneading. Knead until you achieve a slightly sticky consistency.
Place the dough back into the bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rest for about 1 hour to allow the dough to rise.
After the resting period, transfer the risen dough back to the floured surface and shape it into a ball.
Divide the dough into two equal parts, then further divide each part into 12 pieces.
Roll each piece into a ball by gently pressing and shaping with your hands.
Take one ball of dough and flatten it slightly with your hands.
Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough into a circular shape, making sure not to roll it too thin.
Place the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet, leaving some space between each one. Repeat with the remaining dough balls.
Cover the shaped dough with a clean kitchen towel to prevent drying while waiting for the oven to preheat.
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees Celsius (480 degrees Fahrenheit). Once heated, bake the pitas for 6-7 minutes until they puff up and turn lightly golden brown.
Once done, remove the pitas from the oven and serve. Enjoy your mini pita bread!
